AMOLED Display and Watch Faces
This is the main reason to pick the Watch 6 Active over cheaper watches. AMOLED gives deep blacks and punchy colours, and at 1200 nits peak brightness you can still read messages in direct sunlight. With Always-on Display, the time stays visible without raising your wrist. Xiaomi offers a big range of watch faces, so you can go from a simple analogue look for the office to a busy stats face for the gym.
Bluetooth Calling
With your phone nearby and connected over Bluetooth, you can answer and make calls straight from the watch using its speaker and mic. That’s handy when you’re driving, cooking or at the gym. It works for regular phone calls. Xiaomi says WhatsApp and other app calls aren’t supported on the watch.
Health and Fitness Tracking
The watch tracks heart rate, blood oxygen (SpO2) and stress all day, records your sleep, and alerts you if your heart rate or SpO2 looks unusual. There are guided breathing exercises, a vitality score and menstrual cycle tracking too. As with any smartwatch, these readings are for general wellness, not medical diagnosis.
There are more than 140 sports modes, covering running, walking, cycling, gym training, cricket-style ball sports and more. Xiaomi’s sensor list doesn’t include a built-in GPS chip, so for outdoor walks and runs keep your phone with you if you want an accurate route and distance.
Battery Life
Xiaomi rates the 470mAh battery at up to 18 days with light use, 12 days with normal use (all-day health tracking switched on) and 6 days with heavy use including Always-on Display. In practice, most people will charge it about once a week to ten days. It charges with the magnetic cable in the box.
Design, Strap and Water Resistance
At 9.9mm thick and 26g without the strap, it’s thinner and lighter than the Redmi Watch 5 Active, so it’s comfortable to sleep in. The flat frame with 2.5D curved glass looks smart enough for work. The strap uses a quick-release pin, so you can swap it in seconds, and fits wrists from 135 to 205mm.
About water resistance: the watch is IP68 rated, so sweat, rain and handwashing are fine. Xiaomi specifically says it is not for swimming, showers, saunas or water sports, and water damage beyond IP68 isn’t covered. Take it off before a swim.
