We get asked about the Zero Carbon Earbuds a lot at the shop, usually by people who want something affordable that still sounds punchy and doesn’t make them shout on calls. That’s pretty much what these are. Zero gives them four mics with ENC for calls, 13mm drivers that lean towards bass, Bluetooth 5.3 and an IPX5 rating, so a sweaty gym session won’t hurt them. The figures below come from Zero’s own product page and images.

Key Features

- Clearer calls. Four mics with ENC cut down background noise, so the person on the other end hears you over traffic or a noisy room.
- Bass-heavy sound. Zero uses 13mm drivers it calls HyperBass. Great for pop, Punjabi and hip-hop. If you mostly listen to acoustic or classical, you may want something more balanced.
- Long battery. Zero rates it at 40 hours in total with the case, and 10 minutes of charging gives about 150 minutes of music.
- Gaming mode. Four taps turns it on. Zero claims 45 ms latency.
- Handles sweat and splashes. It’s IPX5 rated. Just don’t take it in the shower or the pool, as it isn’t waterproof.
- Touch controls for songs, calls and Google Assistant or Siri, plus auto pairing when you open the case.

ENC for Calls

A lot of listings mix up ENC and ANC, so it’s worth being clear. ENC only works on your voice. When you’re on a call, the four mics (two on each earbud) work together to trim out the noise around you, so you come through cleaner. It won’t make the world quieter for you while you listen to music. That’s what ANC does, and the Carbon doesn’t have it. If blocking out a loud office or a rickshaw ride is what you’re after, you’ll want one of the ANC earbuds in our range instead.

Gaming Mode and Everyday Use
Tap the earbud four times and it switches to what Zero calls Combat Gaming Mode. Zero rates it at 45 ms. In practice that means footsteps and gunshots in PUBG or Free Fire line up better with what’s on screen. It won’t be perfect, though. Every Bluetooth pair has some delay, and your phone plays a part too. For music, YouTube and calls, just leave it off.
Day to day, the earbuds connect on their own when you open the case, and a tap brings up Google Assistant or Siri.

Battery Life and Charging

Zero says you’ll get up to 7 hours from one charge and up to 40 hours in total once you count the charging case. If you’re in a hurry, 10 minutes on the charger gives roughly two and a half hours of music, and a full charge takes about an hour and a half. Battery life does drop if you play loud or keep gaming mode on, which is normal for any earbuds.
What Is Included
Inside the box you’ll find the earbuds in their charging case, a charging cable, a user manual and a warranty card. Hold on to the box and the warranty card. You’ll need them if you ever make a warranty claim or a return.

Compare Zero Carbon and Zero Gravity
People often weigh the Carbon against the Zero Gravity Earbuds, since both sit at the lower end of Zero’s range. Here’s how they differ on paper, going by Zero’s own product images:
| Zero Carbon | Zero Gravity | |
|---|---|---|
| Call noise reduction | Quad mic with ENC | Quad mic with ENC |
| Driver | 13mm | 11mm |
| Playback per charge | Up to 7 hours | Up to 6 hours |
| Total with case | Up to 40 hours | Up to 40 hours |
| Water resistance | IPX5 | IPX5 |
| Gaming mode | Yes (45 ms claimed) | Not listed |
| Bluetooth | 5.3 | 5.3 |
They’re closer than most people expect: both have quad mic ENC, Bluetooth 5.3, IPX5 and up to 40 hours with the case. The Carbon has bigger 13mm drivers, a gaming mode and an extra hour per charge, so it’s the pick for mobile gamers. The Gravity has 11mm drivers, lists AAC support for iPhones and has a lighter, ribbed Flybird design.
