The Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 is the earbud to look at if you want proper noise cancelling and Hi-Res sound without paying flagship money. It sits below the Liberty 5 Pro in Anker’s range, and it brings LDAC, Dolby Audio, Adaptive ANC 3.0 and up to 48 hours of battery with the case. Every Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 from Mobile Geeks comes with 3 months warranty, and we stock it in Black and White.
Sound quality of the Anker Soundcore Liberty 5
Each earbud has a 9.2 mm driver with a wool-paper diaphragm, plus two bass tubes. The idea is strong bass that still leaves room for vocals. Dolby Audio is built in too, which makes films, YouTube and games feel wider than plain stereo.
The Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 also supports LDAC and Hi-Res Audio. Many Android phones can use LDAC (you switch it on in the phone’s Bluetooth settings), and it sends more detail than the standard codecs. On an iPhone the earbuds use AAC instead, which is still a good codec, but LDAC is not available there. SBC is supported as well.
Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 noise cancelling that keeps adjusting
Adaptive ANC 3.0 checks the noise around you every 0.3 seconds and changes the cancelling to match. That helps when your surroundings change quickly, like walking out of a quiet shop onto a busy road. Soundcore also added a purpose-built acoustic cavity that gives 2x stronger voice reduction. Voices are one of the harder sounds for ANC to block, so this matters in offices, classrooms and shared rooms.
When you do want to hear what is going on around you, switch to transparency mode. ANC modes and the EQ are changed from the Soundcore app.
Clear calls
Six microphones, AI call processing and a wind-resistant algorithm work together to pick up your voice and cut background noise. On a street or a windy rooftop, the person on the other end should still hear you clearly.
Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 battery life and charging
You get up to 12 hours on the earbuds with ANC off, or 8 hours with ANC on. The charging case brings that to 48 hours in total with ANC off, or 32 hours with ANC on. If you forget to charge them, 10 minutes in the case gives you around 5 hours of listening.
The case charges over USB-C, and it also supports wireless charging, so you can drop it on a wireless pad instead of plugging in a cable.
Fit, controls and water resistance
Each earbud weighs about 4.6 g, which is light enough for long listening sessions. Controls use a squeeze on the stem plus touch gestures. The earbuds are rated IP55, which covers sweat, dust and splashes, so a workout or a sudden shower will not hurt them. They are not meant to be dunked in water.
Bluetooth 5.4 keeps the connection stable, and the Liberty 5 can stay connected to two devices at once, for example your phone and your laptop.
Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 vs Liberty 4 NC and R60i NC
If you want the newest noise cancelling and IP55 protection, go for the Anker Soundcore Liberty 5. If your budget is tighter, the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC costs less and gives you more total battery with the case (50 hours with ANC off), and the Anker Soundcore R60i NC is cheaper again. The Liberty 5 makes the most sense if you spend a lot of time on calls, in noisy places, or listening to Hi-Res files over LDAC.
